The ICE Protests Are A Perfect Showcase For The Success Of The Teachers' Unions
There is no excuse for what they have done to American kids
“Americans are told this is a heated debate over immigration policy”, Andy Ngo writes at The New York Post. “In reality, the crisis has been engineered by hostile interests and advanced by domestic seditionists who see chaos as a tool toward revolution.” Ngo was referring to China, but he might as well have indicted the American education profession.
“With employees afraid to work and customers fearful, Minneapolis businesses are losing $10 million to $20 million in sales a week, with revenue down more than half in the two months since Operation Metro Surge began, according to city estimates”, reports the Star Tribune. Gov. Tim Walz closed the schools and called a mob into the streets; Mayor Jacob Frey ordered Minneapolis police to stand down. Both gentlemen are now pleading impoverishment. I have a meme for this:
We must note that the tactics still on display are ineffective at deterring or blocking federal action. The Trump administration announced last week that they have rounded up over 4,000 criminal illegal aliens from the Minneapolis metro area in Operation Metro Surge. Thousands of ‘wins’ continue to accrue while the anti-ICE mob turns on softer targets close to hand.
A crowd turned up to protest the governor at his mansion and he didn’t even come out to yell over the gate, this time. A gang of Minnesota liberal women protested their gym, CorePower, removing an anti-ICE sign from their window by haranguing the staff and then tossing the weights in a pile to display their contempt for American citizens with regular jobs.
The one thing that seems to unite the mob, other than oppositional defiance disorder, is free time during the working day. Half the Minneapolis economy is in the streets or in the gym agitating for their supply of docile, cheap labor and extra Census representation to remain in place. No wonder the local GDP suffers. The whole state could use with a collectivist back-to-the-office order, but of course this will never happen.
Look at the fun things the mob does, like carrying dildos to wave them around, and throwing the dildos at federal vehicles, or throwing the dildos at fellow anti-ICE patrols they mistake for federal vehicles in friendly fire incidents. Minnesotans are letting their true feelings out. “You’re black! Ni**er, you’re next!” a white protester shouts at a Black ICE official. Half the ICE workforce turns out to be Black, Hispanic, or Latino, inspiring a white mob to shout at race traitors for selling out to whitey.
One half of progressive discourse consists of Pretending To Not Get It. The other half of progressive discourse consists of Demanding That You Get It. With Signal groups and other anti-ICE organizing apps exposed by journalists like Cam Higby in the last week, mob organizers have been notably less effective at interference with ICE operations, a few dildos notwithstanding.
Nonviolence is not interesting to these activists. Their chat groups, which included the lieutenant governor as an admin, consistently and freely condone violence and promote chaos in order to produce a body count. The rhetoric about putting their bodies on the line to protect criminal aliens is not just brave talk.
Journalist Christina Buttons was expelled from several Signal groups for objecting to violent protest. Will Stancil, a leftist social media ‘influencer’ who has tried to adopt street resistance with adorable earnestness, was expelled from the “Defend the 612”chat group for his insufficient radicalism.
The virus is spreading. A Salt Lake City mob of children walked out of their school to harass people. A TikToker posted a video of a mob of children shouting “racist” at a woman and throwing objects at her. Another viral video shows what appears to be the same children mobbing a senior male to get off their sidewalk. An 18-year-old Indiana man was arrested this weekend for threatening to shoot up his high school over a false report that a pro-ICE demonstration would be taking place there.
Children also walked out of Waukegan High School in Illinois to hold a very weird crucifixion of Donald Trump in effigy, which is confusing, since it would seem to elevate Trump as the martyr. Then again, American public schools stopped teaching kids about the Bible ages ago, then stopped teaching them to read books at all, so we should not be surprised if the kids are confused.
Something is rotten at the core of American education. How else can we explain nurses blocking a hospital entrance in Manhattan, or getting fired from their jobs for posting TikToks fantasizing about White House staff suffering fatal pregnancy complications? Just what is going on at woke nursing schools these days?
The answer, if we are honest, is that the last decade of anti-white, anti-male secondary and postsecondary education DEI and social emotional learning (SEL) has been a disaster compounded by covid, Trump derangement syndrome is making liberal women insane, and the children are catching the brain-disease.
The children’s crusade is led by example. The President of the Minneapolis Federation of Educators and English teacher at Roosevelt High School is Marcia Howard, who tries to pit ICE agents against each other on the basis of racism racial consciousness, since she is herself racist racially conscious. The iron law of woke projection never fails:
“Immigrant groups have a message for their mostly White allies: Quit blowing the whistle on ICE”, reads a Fox News Digital article. The Seattle-area Signal groups have turned on one another: Stop trying to be the “White Savior.” You are not starring in an “action movie”. Predictably, the white allies are blowing them off as “being weird” and “vaguely condescending” about whistles.
One “rapid response” group opposes whistles out of “commitment to non-violence, discipline and harm reduction”. “We believe in whistles, people want whistles”, responds a participant in a group called “WA Whistles”. Whereas the nonprofits are aware of optics, aware the whistles create chaos and increase the risks of violence, the virtue that street radicals signal with them just feels too good to give up.
The true believers disdain the “careerists”, for they have the true fire of faith in the righteous cause. They know that nonviolence is “fed coded”, i.e. for pussies. Real activists don’t care what they look like to other people. They wear dildos on their faces because it owns the right wing, or whatever, not because it is an effective symbol of protest. The whistles too are meant to signal something more important than the well-being of any community.
Since last summer, groups including the People’s Forum, the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Democratic Socialists of America have promoted whistles as part of a broader confrontation with U.S. law enforcement. They have borrowed from whistle-blowing tactics used by socialist and communist labor union groups in Europe.
American teachers’ unions became purely political organizations a long time ago and they have demonstrably failed to improve, or even maintain, reading standards. College baccalaureates are demonstrably less intelligent today than freshman high school kids in the 1980s. The unions participated in the Black Lives Matter hoax, then demanded classrooms close for covid, demanded that the kids should wear masks, and let a generation of educational progress collapse. Liberal women have come to dominate public education and all they seem to do now is teach our kids ‘iggnorance’.

Although Minneapolis police occasionally do tear down barricades, Minneapolis radicals return within hours to set up new trash barriers at intersections so they can slow traffic and record license plates, ostensibly to protect the community from federal officials. Motorists have been stopped and asked to present identification, as if an American society has broken down and reinvented border policing on first principles. The irony is lost on kids who have not been taught what irony is.
Indeed, Minnesota seems to be learning a big lesson on the rewards of communist radicalism. Teachers’ unions were instrumental in the inflation of the day care fraud bubble that popped in December, initiating the present unpleasantness in Minnesota. Now the well-heeled distribution points set up to keep ICE watchers on watch are getting picked over on purpose by free riders, “just to piss him off”. “I got the whistles!” he giggles.
At the end of the day, what have we learned? That the left is always divided between the institutionalists with due regard for strategy on the one hand, and contrarian street thugs who just want to own the chuds on the other. That a high-trust society is vulnerable to ‘blank slate’ groupthink, and the real racists were the friends we made along the way. That quality learing starts at home, and then it takes a village to craze a child. The cost of the virtue is itself a signal, a beacon of cope.
These days, the only thing falling faster than birthrates is reading proficiency. Taxpayers should not be forced to continue putting up with this absurdity. America is not safe in the hands of violent radicals indoctrinating our children to hate their own country, their own race, their own bodies. Fire the activist teachers, shutter the education departments, break the unions, make standards and merit great again.
