Democrats Are Not 'The Moderate Party'
They are the party of stealth extremism
At the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Hillary Clinton announced that liberal western mass migration policy had gone “too far”, admitting that illegal immigrants are “disruptive and destabilizing” to their host societies. Not that she wants to deport anyone, of course, because that would be mean.
During a panel, “The West-West Divide: What Remains of Common Values”, Clinton opined that immigration “needs to be fixed in a humane way with secure borders that don’t torture and kill people”, because the plan now is to sell Democrats as the party of kinder, gentler borders instead of open borders. Their weird obsession with keeping criminal illegal aliens in the country will now be carried out in stealth, returned to the closet until they hold power again.
Clinton argued that “there is a legitimate reason to have a debate about things like migration” and said that a debate “without intimidation, fear, bullying and cancelation” is important. She wanted to reopen the door to Biden 2020 voters who switched to Trump in 2024 on this issue. She wanted the world to see Democrats seeming to get the message. It’s all a performance, and a poor one.
On ‘gender identity’, Hillary Clinton remains committed to her feminist principle that Timothy McBride is a woman if he says so. This is still not up for debate. She will still stab you for questioning his woman-ness. Clinton appeared with McBride, who now goes by ‘Sarah’, in Munich. She nodded along sagely as the freshman Representative from Delaware warned that an “organized well funded right wing regressive movement” intends “consequences for women of all backgrounds” when they won’t let him pee in the congressional ladies’ room.
“At the end of the day, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, and sexism are all rooted in the same prejudice”, McBride said. This is the social justice gospel of the divine omnicause, a great blobbing together of every allegedly marginalized group into one acronym so massive it punches a hole in the universe and liberates mankind. According to this magical story, “the belief that one perception at birth should dictate who you are, how you act, what you do, who you love, and how you dress” is a demiurgic force of oppression in the universe, and all of these different categories of person face that same enemy together.
McBride says that “threats toward trans people are threats toward all women”, inferring that he, a man, is the most important kind of woman for other woman to protect. When groomers do this to organizations, it is called ‘forced teaming’. I use that loaded word on purpose because ‘grooming’ is exactly what McBride has done to Democrats. He has gotten them to treat him as a normal person when he is obviously mentally ill. McBride is now the single biggest reason the party as a whole cannot walk back its commitment to genderwoo.
We can all hear and see that McBride is not a woman, but they insist that he is one, and that if we are good people we ought to agree with them because only bad people disagree with the right side of history, which they have known in advance all this time. Europe has caught this American disease with the same enthusiasm that the global left embraced covid lockdowns. Last week, the European Parliament rejected a amendment to recognize that men cannot get pregnant and moved forward with efforts to make all of Europe into California. The more their power slips, the tighter the grip of the ruling class becomes.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka, is one of those bad people who objects to this form of cultural imperialism and ideological colonialism. During a separate panel, Macinka noted that cancel culture, woke politics, and climate alarmism have made it difficult to defend the liberal west from its enemies. Trust in leaders like Clinton has declined in direct proportion to their adoption of genderwoo.
This phenomenon is forming a distinct cultural ‘delta’ between center-left politicians across the western world and their constituencies. Their solution is to simply swap the old constituency with a new, more tractable population. So-called ‘replacement theory’ was dismissed for decades as a conspiracy theory until it became explicit policy. Spain’s leftist government is fast-tracking one million immigrants to citizenship because their program has become so unpopular.
Clinton objected to this line of comment, raising her voice in moral outrage at Macinka for questioning gender ideology. She tried to connect Timothy McBride’s restroom preferences to aid for Ukraine. “I’m sorry if it makes you nervous, but there are only two genders, male and female”, Macinka responded. It was as close as these hoity-toity international gatherings ever come to a cage fight. Listen to this clip. Hear the ego-dystonic arousal in Clinton’s voice.
We should note that Hillary Clinton is actually a late convert to the ideology of gender identity, and as always, the last ones to join are often the most fanatical. In 2019, she had differences with her daughter Chelsea on the subject. In 2024, however, Kara Dansky, a radical feminist activist, found that a friend of hers who worked for Clinton was unable to even discuss the transgender topic just months before the election. Now she endorses McBride to represent Democrats overseas. Imagine the guy meeting Vladimir Putin, or Xi Jinping. When you stop laughing, imagine it again and be horrified.
Democrats were defeated on the strength of the most effective ad campaign in modern history, the infamous “they/them” ads playing on Kamala Harris’s endorsement of transgender surgeries for illegal immigrants in detention. The party has resisted interpreting this as a defeat for gender ideology, with the results of last November’s special election in Virginia supposedly vindicating their view that voters will never punish the Democratic Party for extreme ‘gender inclusion’ policies.
Democrats were also defeated on the weakness of their border position. Harris, ostensibly the Biden border czar, had little to do with the actual policy choices that brought a flood of millions of undocumented Latin American immigrants to the United States, reducing the whole populations of some countries by an observable fraction of the pie chart. The party has resisted implementation of existing immigration laws with bloody street riots and public disorder. They now believe they have a public opinion edge on the issue, that Americans agree ICE has ‘gone too far’, and this will carry them to November.
But what explains the differential public positioning, the ‘triangulation’ in Clinton-speak, through which Democrats position themselves as the ‘moderate’ party in American politics? On immigration, they believe they can get away with pretending to moderate, because the immigration ‘groups’ will not complain. On genderwoo, Democrats cannot moderate, for ‘the groups’ will destroy them. Genderwoo is objectively a better proxy for understanding the true depth of radicalism in the Democratic Party right now. As long as they push genderwoo, no one can, or should, trust a single word that Democrats say about immigration.
Lee Silver, a molecular biologist at Princeton, coined the term “stealth extremism” in 2006 as a way to tar conservative morality with stereotypical charges of antiscientific bias. The ACLU put Harris on the spot about transgender surgeries for illegal aliens in detention with a private questionnaire. Harris stood no chance in the Democratic primary field of 2019 without a green light from ‘the groups’ that demand fealty to gender ideology. Even with their okay, her candidacy failed, but there is a reason why these litmus tests happen out of public sight.
During the four years between the time that Clinton disagreed with Chelsea and the time her inner circle was turning away radical feminists, Lia Thomas was celebrated with oozing media coverage for his Title IX violations . Tens of thousands of American minors had their lives, endocrine systems, and even their flesh disrupted, destroying families in the process. Americans saw what ‘transgender inclusion’ meant in practice (‘praxis’) and increasingly rejected it. This is reflected in polling data shifts over that time. The culture changed while Democrats have gone the other way.
Virginia seemed to validate the hope of Democrats that 2024 was an aberration from the inevitable course of history that will make them masters of America again, that they will never pay a price for their blinkered obsession with genderwoo. But Virginia actually proved two important things that Democrats have missed, being entirely high on their own supply.
First, that the biggest problem Republicans have is just getting voters to believe that Democrats really do promote crazy, extreme policies that put sex offenders in the public school girls’ locker room. Democrats are busy fixing this wherever they hold power, for example in Oregon, by simply ordering the hospitals and clinics to keep transing as many kids as possible in defiance of the federal government. Second, as soon as Democrats have power again, the ‘moderate’ mask will come right off, and they will prove everything Republicans have said about them was true.
In Virginia, where Abigail Spanberger ran on her ‘moderate’ promise to make life more affordable, the Democratic surge has resulted in a raft of new legislation that will multiply the tax burdens of citizens. Spanberger immediately made utility bills vastly more expensive. In New York City, the new mayor has already broken the budget. Zohran Mamdani says the middle class will now have to make up the difference so that he can open public transgender clinics for undocumented criminal aliens. California’s Gavin Newsom is becoming synonymous with fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
This is what the Democrats mean when they campaign on ‘affordability’: intentional, disruptive, destructive leadership that gouges the citizens. It is stealth extremism, and it is consistent with their policy unity on other issues. The more important point is that this is the face that Democrats are presenting to world leaders in Munich to signal that the party of Barack Obama is coming back to power, and bringing the good times with them.
They visited a Europe where center-left governments have learned all their language from the Democrats of America. They accuse their enemies on the right of fascism, misinformation, Russian collusion, taking shadowy billionaire money, racism, xenophobia, and of course, transphobia. An increasing number of Europeans are actually going to jail for true statements about human sex that give genderwoo activists heartburn.
This is a form of extremism that Democrats will absolutely bring to America, if they win. The problem, for Republicans, is getting people to believe this is real. The public has yet to make the connection between Democrats looking them in the eye to lie and say Timothy McBride is a man named Sarah, and Democrats lying about absolutely everything else.
People who demand you call him a she, who say that you are a criminal for refusing to participate in their pretend-time-all-the-time game, are themselves criminals, every time. When Democrats call you ‘extreme’ for knowing that McBride is a man, it is because they know that if they can make you repeat this absurdity, they can get you to accept their most extreme policy interventions in every area, and excuse every atrocity they commit. Rather than accept that they might be on the wrong side of history, they can just replace the voters who won’t join them on the right side.
“We’ve got to accommodate the reality that the majority of American people think that there’s a difference between somebody who’s a US citizen and somebody who’s not, and that they want an orderly immigration system”, Barack Obama told podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen over the same weekend that Clinton was in Munich. The timing was no coincidence. Democrats want to seize and hold the ‘moderate’ position on immigration until November. Once they return to power, they can defund and defang ICE, foster new ‘sanctuary’ cities and states, and get right back to what they were doing before November 2024.
Today, Democrats are touting new polls that have them convinced Kamala Harris could win a rematch with Donald Trump. Democrats are very good at fooling themselves with survey results — they convinced themselves that Harris was winning in Iowa, after all — yet the more revealing number is her comparative popularity against other Democrats, especially Gavin Newsom. Harris is, to be blunt, an Obama figure with none of his redeeming traits, but all of his empty sloganeering (“JOY” was the new “HOPE”). Rank-and-file Democrats want Obama back.
Politics begin at the water’s edge, they say. Clinton presented McBride as the new face of intersectional Obamaism in Munich. The party leaders really think they have the future in their hands. Midterms being what they are, and Republicans being as disordered as they are, Democrats might even win the House and spend the next two years impeaching Trump.
However, that is the future where they manage to show us all what they really are for two years before some lucky Democrat gets to run against a Republican who is not named Donald Trump. It is hard to be the ‘moderate’ party when you look insane compared to your opponents.
I think the Democratic Party suffers from three -isms that are strongly correlated at the left-wing activist level, but not necessarily broadly among Democratic Party voters, though that may change.
One, transgenderism. The party that wants you to believe in science or scientists is the party that tells you to ignore Biology 101. Everyone not believing transgenderism knows what a woman is. But, the same party that wants you to ignore Biology 101 wants you to trust them on climate science, which no normal person can understand. The UN reports are written by 20 to 30 scientists from various countries with PhDs in a multitude of disciplines. The models are complex. The math is complex.
Two, socialism. The problem for the Democratic Party is that it is historically a social democratic party. FDR's New Deal was social democracy to save capitalism. Unfortunately, the two most charismatic speakers for the Democrats--AOC and Bernie Sanders--gaslight the party and the electorate into suggesting that they are actual socialists. Socialism broadly requires the elimination of private property and market regulated by prices between buyers and sellers. AOC has never campaigned in her Queens congressional district on abolishing private property. I think all the bodega owners would be horrified. However, Mayor Mamdani who is now lionized by the party is an actual communist who would abolish private property through his war on landlords, the new kulaks.
The third problem is Palestinianism. The party does not boot out clear jihadis from Congress. Omar and Tlaib are clearly Hamas mouthpieces. Mamdani is clearly a Hamas mouthpiece. They are jihadi Nazis. It is stunning to see the Democratic Party cozying up to Nazis.
I am still a Democrat, but I feel alienated from this party.
