Damage Report
The most likely ultimate impact of the 'Epstein Files' will be disappointed Democrats
History is rhyming. Yesterday, House Democrats redacted the name of the late Virginia Giuffre, who took her own life in April, from a 2011 email exchange between Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, then headlined the email in a dump of 20,000 documents. It is a transparent, sensationalist smear of Donald Trump. It will go the same way as the ‘pee tape’.
Before her death, Ms. Giuffre swore in a deposition that she has never seen Epstein with Trump, nor had she seen the future president at Epstein’s home. She said that Trump had never even flirted with her, swore in a deposition that he had never been inappropriate, denied Trump had parteken in any sex acts, was never at Epstein’s house with Trump. Giuffre’s memoir, Nobody’s Girl, was published after her death. Giuffre makes no allegations of any kind against Trump in her book.
Trump maintains that he made Epstein persona non grata at Mar-a-Lago because the erstwhile intvestment guru had poached two employees, including Ms. Giuffre. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the emails “prove absolutely nothing” and the president “did nothing wrong.” After this many false starts about wild allegations regarding her boss, I am ready to believe her.
