Bernie Sanders Says Jeff Bezos Should Just Pay For All The Woke Sh*t Because He Is Rich
And the left want it, that means they deserve it. Socialism is easy!
Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos made drastic staff cuts this week in a bid to restore profitability to a newspaper that has lost national readership through severely biased and flawed coverage of the news. Bezos had hinted that a second round of layoffs might be necessary to course-correct, and he was right.
First to go were the HAMAS stenographers in Jerusalem. Then the sports section was shuttered, putting everyone who worked so hard to legitimize Lia Thomas out of a job. The books section was eliminated, leaving the nation’s capitol without a leftist liturgy. Metro coverage is gone, ending the focus on inclusion, anti-discrimination, historical redress, and systemic racism in birdwatching.
So of course the professional political class is very upset. They told Americans to cancel their subscriptions after the first round of Bezos firings; the professional political class across American heard their thought-leaders on NPR, and did as they were told. This is what the professional political class wanted, and now that they have what they want, they are very upset about it.
This one is my favorite. I am old enough to remember this man raising hundreds of millions of dollars for two failed presidential campaigns. He is not Jeff Bezos rich, but Sen. Bernie Sanders is definitely not poor, either. He is a very rich man demanding that some other very rich man cover all the bills and just keep pumping out woke garbage to satisfy his tastes in news. Perhaps Sen. Sanders could figure out a way to finance his own alternative publication, now.
Reader, do you recall Jennifer Salke? She is the terrible, horrible, no-good former head of Amazon MGM Studios who oversaw the day-to-day production of Rings of Power, easily the most contemptible woke vandalization of J.R.R. Tolkien and one of the worst examples of woke intellectual property destruction in our time.
Bezos did not cut deep enough that instance, either. The show has no audience, but in 2022, The Washington Post tried to gaslight everyone into believing that the online backlash to the show’s absurd diversity casting was just a bunch of racist MAGAs. They used Elijah Wood to legitimize the black Hobbits. His career has not recovered.
Not by coincidence, YouTube channels like The Critical Drinker and Midnight’s Edge, which freely criticized the black elves and dwarves for snapping the suspension of disbelief, grew huge while the WaPo declined. Turns out that people will turn to the sources they trust, and that when you abuse that relationship, your brand burns.
While Salke’s career has been canceled, the series has not, becoming possibly the most expensive flop in streaming history. And that about sums up what the Bernie Sanderses of the world believe about how the world should work.
The things that our professional political class like, that reflect their biases and expectations, should be funded with infinite money and no accountability, because it is what they like. No one has to watch it, or use it, as long as they like it, and the rich should pay for it because they have infinite money.
This was the rationale behind public broadcasting by the time DOGE came along; it is how Twitter ran in the red until Elon Musk bought the app and made it X; it is how Nashville got a hundred DEI trainings for the utilities department instead of effective response to a storm, and it is how Hollywood went broke from all the woke.
Woke is broke. This is a universal pattern. Nothing that goes woke succeeds, in the long run, because wokesters do not conceive of money as real, or as something they are not entitled to have from those who have more. It is the logic of a five-year-old who, when told that the family does not have enough money for a pony, tells their parents to go buy some.
