Here is another song by Séance Fiction, the band behind the Official Anthem of the Osborne Republic.
The lyrics were inspired by someone’s deliberate drama-mongering and backbiting that resulted in the breakup of the singer’s previous band. When he finally understood what his bandmate had done, Evan pulled the metaphorical trigger — “the way of the gun” — to make a permanent end to all the lies.
How long did you think to elude us,
lie and steal and hide the truth from us?
Deceive us, never wondering, giving doubt.
Did you think that we wouldn’t find you out?
It’s time that you met with judgment,
and it’s time that you answer for this.
It’s time that we all raise the gavel,
and it’s time that we wake up burning
because I see you, because I see through.
The time has come for you to face what you’ve done.
Your judge and jury be the way of the gun,
and I hope you’re sorry.
I hoped so long it wouldn’t end up this way,
but it’s come down to what will happen today,
and you will pay.
How long had you been planning it,
built this fire, spreading it, fanning it?
At first blood, so sure, so full of doubt,
acted sure, because we found you out.
We tracked you down and we found you out.
I feel so dumb because I see you,
because I see you.
You thought that you could slip away, slither away before we saw.
You’re wrong. Hope you’re sorry, that’s your story. I’m not sorry.
‘Cause I’ve seen through you all.
‘Cause I’ve seen through all of you.
Now you’re gone, but then there’s no one left who will mourn you
because there’s no one here you have not done this to.
Well I’m sure you think that you were just having fun.
Hope you’re sorry, I’m not sorry.

UPDATE:
In which I keep the receipts. It’s a hard pill to swallow.
