Newt Gingrich will blow any dog whistle and broadcast any bullshit. It takes a craven, soulless person to say things like “we are living in a period where we are surrounded by paganism” with a straight face. Yesterday, the GOP frontrunner indulged Pamela Geller-style Islamophobia with exactly the same level of nutty certitude. Via LGF:
Get that? The REAL reason “elites” have fought America’s slide into fascism is that they want to pass Sharia laws for everyone. The evil atheist “War on Christmas” is just a cover for the “war on Christ” by followers of Muhammad — or Ba’al, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or whatever bugaboo happens to delight the forum where Gingrich is speaking. He doesn’t actually separate these imaginary threats in his mind because they are all one monolithic threat to America.
If that reminds you of a really bad contemporary political thriller, it should — which is why I keep comparing Gingrich to L. Ron Hubbard. Just change the enemy-du-jour into Xenu — it’s all science fiction. Read Johnson for a more thorough takedown.
