Morning Awful: Rationalizing Ron Paul

Flirtation with Ron Paul blew up in the Professional Left’s face like a homemade bomb late last week, and the smoke still hasn’t cleared. Poor Zaid Jilani, fire-breathing ThinkProgress writer, just can’t seem to cope yet:

There is nothing in Paul’s public record that lines up with years-old story about newsletters. Looks more and more like bad negligence…

Nothing in Paul’s public record? What about the time he voted against giving Rosa Parks a Congressional Gold Medal? Or his effort to protect private schools from discrimination charges? Or his attempt to end federal court jurisdiction over school desegregation? What about his opposition to the Civil Rights Act?

Perhaps that ‘public record’ explains Paul’s longtime popularity among white supremacists at the Stormfront website (don’t click this link). That might not be an indictment of Paul if he didn’t pose for smiling snapshots with the site’s founder. Paul’s widespread support among patriot militiasanti-Semitic groups, and birther-cretins like Alex Jones should have suggested caution to Zaid Jilani and Bill Maher and Glenn Greenwald before they waxed rhapsodical about him, so the “negligence” is theirs, not his.

Isn’t it funny how anyone that willing to keep us on the path to bankruptcy, and losing our freedoms is ok with the media? Ron Paul said that Rosa Parks is a hero of his because of the way she fought against the corrupt system thru non-violent protest. He did not want tax dollars raised to provide a medal. He knew that there should have been thousands of medals given to others who stood up for the same reasons. He instead said that he would pay for her medal out of his pocket.

I agree, these fancy medals are given out to those that happened to have had just the right media connections – like Rosa Parks.  It’s about someone knowing a good photo-op, and dressing appropriately.  Then, a guy is sent out there with a camera who has been told exactly what to photograph.  A private company could make a lot of bucks churning out these awards for the many, many, many, MANY bold and courageous men and women of America…like the ones you never read about.
