Earlier this morning, I took note of Greg Canfield’s appointment to head the Alabama Development Office. As it happens, I have old video of Mr. Canfield. It’s below the fold:
I have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Canfield here. The law he put through committee and passed during our 30-day annual legislative session legalizes coal ash dumping in Alabama. Coal ash is death that has been crushed by the Earth for millions of years. It is not good for you to begin with. When it is burned to ash, it becomes concentrated death. Calling it “solid waste” doesn’t make it stop being trucked and trained onto your local landfill. Canfield also appears in this video, and so does coal ash:
I went to look at the ADO website and found this:
Most commonly known as “the” state agency for economic development, the Alabama Development Office (ADO) has one mission – simply to create jobs in Alabama.

I like Greg Canfield, but his majority held teachers’ jobs hostage to break their pensions and then fired batches of them anyway. This appointment is good for him because he stands a chance of actually creating a job in Alabama.
