Newt Gingrich has had the fastest 2012 GOP nomination flameout we’ve seen since, oh, Donald Trump. Moreover, this little blowup has painted the entire GOP lineup into a corner — effectively making the Ryan Plan an “acid test” that marginalizes all of them. Via Thinkprogress, we have video of cognitive dissonance and Soviet-style historical revisionism in action. I think what Newt is trying to say here is “pay no attention to anything that comes out of my mouth,” which is pretty sage advice:
