Joe Hubbard of Montgomery, a rising star in the Democratic Party, recently announced he would voluntarily refuse 15% of his own salary, saying “teachers and state employees don’t have the option of not taking a pay cut. Neither should legislators. The right thing to do is to permanently tie legislative pay to proration.”
