About two hundred and fifty people turned up in Washington DC’s Lafayette park across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House last Thursday for mass civil disobedience. The 135 people arrested included Chris Hedges, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, as well as the legendary Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.
UPDATE: Video still trapped in upload. Veoh SUCKS. Apologies for the wait, as we’re already 24 hours overdue. Please stand by…
UPDATE: I have received notice of copyright infringement in the video from Veoh. Redonkulus.
I just sent this:
To whom it may concern:
I received notice that my video “Winter Soldiers,” an anti-war video shot on location last week in the District of Columbia, has been withdrawn due to copyright infringement.
The song used in the video, “It’s a Mistake” by Men At Work, is available at YouTube. It was last considered a hit in 1982. It is a bit over four minutes long, whereas my video is thirty minutes in length.
I am curious how this video, and not previous works hosted at Veoh using other songs in exactly the same way, would be flagged for copyright violation so quickly. Is there a team of algorithmic monkeys over there?
Or is my video blocked because it is controversial?
Just asking.
