Sarah Palin asks:
If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive “cross-cultural engagement” and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven’t they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite?
Again: it’s not a mosque. It’s a community center. A YMCA for Muslims. One with a rabbi and Christian clergy on its ecumenical board. It’s an attempt by the Muslim community of lower Manhattan to
show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam
but it doesn’t matter because a chorus of wingnuts is upset that
this particular location is doing just the opposite
which it shouldn’t be — and wouldn’t be — without culture warriors who want violent clashes of civilization. Along the way, they will slap away every olive-branch anyone holds out, be they president or Manhattanites. They are obsessed with the image of Obama as antichrist because they desperately want Armageddon; and they will install idiocracy to have it.
