Not Like Bush

AP via HuffPo: The president wants to reverse the national direction on drug policy.

WASHINGTON — The White House is putting more resources into drug prevention and treatment, part of President Barack Obama’s pledge to treat illegal drug use more as a public health issue than a criminal justice problem.

The new drug control strategy to be released Tuesday boosts community-based anti-drug programs, encourages health care providers to screen for drug problems before addiction sets in and expands treatment beyond specialty centers to mainstream health care facilities.

It’s amazing how much cognitive dissonance you find in the lefty blogosphere these days. Despair and disappointment are fashionable among the fissiparous left; but at this point, you have to be living in a different universe to repeat such nonsense. And yet they infest the comments at HuffPo.

100% agree. Daily Kos seemed like it might weather the freak out stage after health care, but it now seems to be becoming a bastion of folks wanting to cry into their cereal bowl about how corrupted the delicious Honey Nut Cheerios they just poured for themselves are.

When I hear votes being solely for a “not Bush”, I think of people calling themselves “progressives” and bitching about Obama’s failure on policies he never endorsed.

I thought it was just me. It started with the announcement of Rick Warren giving the invocation and it has not let up. Everything is bad news for our side or framed to be potential bad news. This administration can't seem to do anything right.

Dems suck, they're weak, spineless cowardly, corrupt sell outs who never get anything done. All legislation is deemed too small or crappy or a sell out to whatever special interest may be affected.

We are going to lose the 2010 midterms. That drumbeat started back in the spring of 2009.

I don't think many of us know how to cheer from our own team. I don't expect good news all the time but I do expect balance and what's happening now ain't it by a long shot.

No one’s asking for bloodless propaganda here, either. I just don’t like seeing Jane Hamsher make nice with Erikkk Erikkkson; I’m tired of David Sirota putting his foot in it; and I want Greenwald to settle down and quit the chicken-little act. They aren’t proving their “independence,” they’re showing their asses.
