Contracts and ACORN

So the wingnutosphere has its panties all twisted over the news that the Department of Justice has ruled the Obama administration must continue to pay ACORN for services rendered under contract.

To be clear, this is the DoJ answering a request for a legal opinion, and the DoJ ruling that the government cannot just up and break contracts. I mean, imagine if they just stopped paying the Company Formerly Known As Blackwater. How fast do you think Chuck Prince would sue for breach of contract?

This is the hazard of outsourcing government to agents both for-profit and non.
