What’s Gov Got To Do With It?

Via Thump and Whip, Representative Olson (R-TX) tells a tearjerker of a story about the evils of socialized medicine. Except the government has nothing to do with the story.

My favorite part? When one voice points out the contradiction, a Town Hall Zombie excuses it because Obama’s death panels will eat grandma.

When I worked for Walgreens, I used to get calls from zombies. They were very upset because their (private) insurance forced them to use mail order, or limited their quantities, or their doctor couldn’t do basic math; but they were upset about the evils of government. It was a cognitive dissonance I couldn’t solve in the space of a phone call.

The sum total of federal involvement in each call? Regulating the phone lines, ensuring the efficacy of the medication, and requiring me to protect the patient’s privacy. As long as the insurer respects HIPAA, they can deny a prescription for any number of reasons. And somehow that’s the government’s fault?
