Another Wingnut Fail (UPDATE)

World Net Daily, a website that seems wholly devoted to spreading wacky Obama smears, was trumpeting “proof” of their birther claims yesterday:
WASHINGTON – California attorney Orly Taitz, who has filed a number of lawsuits demanding proof of Barack Obama’s eligibility to serve as president, has released a copy of what purports to be a Kenyan certification of birth and has filed a new motion in U.S. District Court for its authentication.

Just a few problems: the purported birth certificate is dated 1964, when the president was three years old. The document states it was made in Mombasa, which wasn’t even part of Kenya at the time. And it’s just one of a slew of forgeries popping up. Even the wacknuts at Free Republic call it a fake.

But that won’t matter. The next Obama conspiracy theory will be that he released these fakes to make Orly Taitz look stupid (as if she needed help).

Wingnuts are smart! With documents!

H/t Jesus’ General

ADDING: Orly Taitz was invited on MSNBC today, and proved once again that wingnuts are their own worst enemies:

H/t to Ben Cohen

ADDING: The fake was made from this original…from South Australia.

Is that really the best they can do? And couldn't this Orly Taitz get in considerable trouble for submitting a forged document to the courts?

  • MM

Orly'd moved on a few days ago, before this certificate emerged. Thursday, when I heard her on a podcast, she was driving home the point that Obama can't be prez because he's not the child of TWO American citizens–she was quite insistent on the point that Obama's father was Kenyan, and that Obama had dual citizenships, and that disqualified him.

    1. Name of the country in the document- Wrong
    2. Mombasa wasn't even near the Obama family home and wasn't part of Kenya at the time
    3. It was the wrong YEAR, off by 3..
    4. "Coast Provence" is wrong for the time. "Coast District" would have made this a marginally better forgery.

    Sad.

    Birther Fail.

Marvin Music, thanks for coming by! I dig your site. And yes, Taitz can technically get in trouble. But let's hope the judge doesn't, because we've already had enough false martyrs on the right lately. No more Major Cooks or Sergeant Crowleys, please.

Here's hoping the judge dismisses the case with prejudice, suggests that Taitz seek psychiatric help, and bangs his gavel.

Oh, the be a fly on the wall for that scene.

  • Matt Osborne

MM, Taitz is a lawyer in name only. This will be the next part of the unending birther saga: after the morning shows are finished with Orly Owl, they will begin asking about her qualifications.

Anonymous, you are either surprisingly enlightened or else pretending to be the Anonymous this blog has known heretofore.

    Thank you for coming.

Do you think that we are all idiots?

You are saying that Mombasa weren't part of Kenya.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mombasa

"On 1 July 1895, it became part of Britain's Kenya protectorate (the coastal strip nominally under Zanzibari sovereignty)."

You said that the birth certificate printed in 1964 which makes it a forgery.

The certificate is a certified COPY of original certificate, it was printed in 1964 after Kenya became independent republic.

The birth certificate posted by Obama was also only a COPY, and it was printed in 2007 !!!!! After Obama became the candidate !!!!!

This is just a question which CERTIFIED COPY is more believable.

WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

  • Matt Osborne

Ah, that's the Anonymous I know.

Sorry, Anon, but it's totally fake. Here's the original.
